What is Chastity?
Chastity is sexual self control helps us to be successful in finding unity with our body and soul.
Chastity is a moral virtue that comes under the Cardinal virtue of Temperance.
What are the challenges that you face in being chaste?
The challenges of chastity are lust, masturbation, fornication, pornography, prostitution, homosexual activities, and rape. Adultery, divorce, polygamy, and free union are grave offenses against the dignity of marriage. (CCC 2400)
Our culture has completely lost touch with the sacredness and dignity of sexuality.
1. Society has twisted it and turned it into something depraved.
2. The unfortunate situations with sexually transmitted diseases and all of the complications that come when we step out of God’s plan.
3. Outside of marriage the sexual act always constitutes a grave sin and excludes one from sacramental communion. (CCC 1385)
Why is the Sacrament of Matrimony beautiful?
God is love and gives us the gift to be able to share in the process of bringing forth
new life wrapped in the expression of love in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
What are the benefits of living a chaste life?
1. Chastity leads the person who practices it to become a witness to their neighbor of God’s fidelity and loving kindness
2. Chastity leads to spiritual communion.
3. The Beatitudes remind us of another reward of being chaste when Jesus said, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.’
4. There is also a deep sense of peace that we receive from knowing that in being chaste we have the integrity and dignity of the children of God as we are called to be.
5. Chastity frees us from all slavery to the passions allowing us to make choices that are in accordance with God’s will.
6. Chastity is a gift from God, it is a grace. It is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit which are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory.
